Hania

Year of production: 2007
Premiere: 2007-11-30

Christmas story as the one of Little Prince. Hania is an exceptional movie being a result of the combined efforts of two Oscar winning talents – cinematographer Janusz Kamiński who also directed this movie and music composer Jan A.P. Kaczmarek.

Their work is a production made on the Polish ground in a Hollywood style, which can be seen not only in the cinematography and music but also in the general form of the film comprised among others of a happy end, so characteristic of American productions. Hania tells a story of a young married couple, whom we meet during Christmas time. Wojtek, a graphic designer is so absorbed by his work that he does not get on well with his wife. Ola, a sensitive, gentle cello player, is dreaming about a child and a cosy home. An old school friend encountered by chance proposes them to accept for the Christmas Eve a boy named Kacper whose identity will surprise both the characters and audience. This amazing boy by asking “naive”, simple questions forces the couple to rethink their relationship and helps them to find their lost love.

Carmo

City Island

Year of production: 2010
US premiere : March 19th 2010

'...Engaging performances led by a buoyant Garcia' - Jan Stuart, Screen International

'Another expertly written joyride from indie director de Felitta, City Island could go mainstream' - Ronnie Scheib, Variety

'Garcia, all stifled ambition and sincerity, supplies his best work in years' - Movieline.com

City Island is a funny, touching and smart family tale about the secrets of the past catching up with the lies of the present, and accepting that nobody’s perfect - least of all your loved ones.

Meet the Rizzos, a family that might get along a lot better if only they could tell each other the truth. Dad Vince is the worst offender. But since the prison guard won’t even admit that “poker night” is in fact acting class, how’s he ever going to explain about his illegitimate son? His daughter works as a stripper when she’s supposed to be in college, while young Vinnie Jr has a secret sexual fetish that involves a 24-hour webcam and the family’s 300-pound neighbour. Vince’s wife Joyce is the family’s rock, but it’s been a year since she enjoyed intimacy with her husband, and it’s no surprise she thinks “poker night” spells A-F-F-A-I-R. When former prisoner Tony enters the Rizzos’ lives, Joyce begins to lose her head - little does she suspect that the handsome young man is in fact her step-son.
